How do I manually install my Palm OS software?

To manually install your software to your handheld (we do not offer support for manually installing desktop software or PC conduits), you must have the PRC and PDB files available to download. If you downloaded an archive containing the PRC or PDB files, please follow the instructions below:

  • If you downloaded a Zip file...

Make sure you have a utility that will open up Zip files. Windows XP has it's own program, but otherwise we suggest WinZip, or StuffIt if you're on a Mac. Use these programs to extract the files from the archive (please see the program documentation for specific instructions on how to open up archives).

After the files have been unzipped, double-click on each file to add them to your Palm Install Tool and perform a HotSync.

If your Palm Install Tool dialog box fails to come up after double-clicking each file, either you do not have Palm Desktop installed on your computer or the file associations for PRC and PDB files have been overriden. Please consult your operating system's documenation to fix the problem.

  • If you downloaded a Sit file...

Make sure you have a utility that will open up Sit files. We recommend StuffIt. Open the archive (please see the program documentation for specific instructions on how to open up archives) and then double-click each PRC and PDB file to add it to your Palm Install Tool. Finally, perform a HotSync.

If your Palm Install Tool dialog box fails to come up after double-clicking each file, either you do not have Palm Desktop installed on your computer or the file associations for PRC and PDB files have been overriden. Please consult your operating system's documenation to fix the problem.
