Reinstalling Password Store for Palm OS
If
your Palm OS device has suffered a hard reset, or you are installing
Password Store on an alternate PDA, you will want to restore your passwords.
1.3.1
Reinstalling Password Store for Palm OS onto your PC
We
recommend that you install the latest version of Password Store, available
at our website at http://www.standalone.com
and install the new version before continuing.
Next,
you need to find the file 'Passwords.pdb' in order to retrieve your
passwords. The file is stored within your Palm folder, commonly found
on your c: drive (it should look like this: c:\Palm). Once you open
your Palm folder, you should find a folder with your User Name on it
(often this is your name. i.e. if your name is Ken Holland, your folder
will look like 'HollandK'). After opening up your User folder, open
up the folder named 'Backup'.
In
this folder, you will find the file 'Passwords.pdb'. This file needs
to be installed into your Palm OS device, just like Password Store was
(for more information on installing handheld files, please click here).
Once 'Passwords.pdb' is installed, you should be able to access your
passwords again.
1.3.2
Reinstalling Password Store for Palm OS onto your Mac
We
recommend that you install the latest version of Password Store, available
at our website at http://www.standalone.com
and install the new version before continuing.
After
installing Password Store for Palm OS, you need to locate the file 'Passwords.pdb'.
You can either run a find for the file, using Sherlock, or you can find
it by opening your Palm folder (commonly found under your hard drive).
Open your 'Users' folder, followed by your User Name folder (i.e. if
your name is Ken Holland, then commonly, the folder will also be named
'Ken Holland').
Within
your User Name folder, you will find the file 'Passwords.pdb'. Simply
double-click on it to open up your HotSync Manager, then click done.
The next time you HotSync, your passwords will be transferred to your
Palm OS device.
*Stand
Alone, Inc. cannot guarantee that your passwords will be backed up if
you use an alternative backup program, nor can we provide support for
